Spring Weekend!

The weather was gorgeous over the weekend, and we tried to soak it in as much as possible. Jeff got out of his rotation early on Friday and we decided to take a drive around Candlewood Lake. We have wanted to see the lake ever since we moved in and decided since it was warm out it would be the perfect day to explore. It is the largest lake in CT located just a few miles from us in the Appalachian Mountains of Western Connecticut. We were so surprised how HUGE the lake was and SO beautiful- bring on the warm weather again so we can go swimming!

On Saturday we went into NYC to spend the evening with Aunt Liz and Uncle Andrew. It was the first time we have gone into the city and not needed huge coats, hats and mittens! We saw a photography exhibit at the old Armory and caught up over dinner. The next morning the sun was still shining and we enjoyed breakfast on the terrace looking out over NYC!

I wish Spring was here to stay, as soon as we woke up Monday morning it was pouring rain and cold again!

Boston & Beer!

Last weekend Jeff and I went to Boston with our good friends Renee and Ryan and their friends from California, Kevin and Jessica! We has such a good time exploring the city and spending time together. We started off the weekend with BEER- appropriate since it was right before St. Patricks Day. We went on a tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery. We got to learn about the beer making process and then we each got a Samuel Adams glass which we filled up with 3 different samples of beer!! Yay!! We got to try Boston Lager, a new spring beer, and Boston Ale.

Cheers to a wonderful weekend!

Renee and I trying Boston Lager- little too strong for our tastes :)

After Kevin and Jessica arrived from the airport we set off to explore the city a little and grab some dinner. It was pouring rain so we decided to try and stay indoors, we went to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. We ate dinner at the Union Oyster House, the oldest restaurant in America. Lots of delicious seafood!! We ended our night drinking and chatting at a local bar, just catching up and celebrating St. Patricks Day weekend.

Sunday was a very busy day! It continued to rain so we found some more activities we could do indoors. We went to lunch at Eagle Deli- famous from the tv show Man v. Food. On the show the host tried to eat a 5 pound burger plus 5 pounds of fries! Ryan and Kevin decided to have a food eating competition of their own, each trying to consume a 2 pound burger with 2 pounds of fries. It doesn't seem like too much, but when you see it in front of you- WOW! After we were all nice and full we went to see the USS Constitution, the oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat in the world. We got a tour of the ship and also walked through the museum. Afterwards we went to Lucky Strike for some bowling and appetizers. We had dinner at a restaurant that sits right inside Fenway Park, one wall of the restaurant is glass and looks right onto the field. Sunday night was the whole reason for the trip- The Dropkick Murphys concert!! They do a special series of shows every year in Boston for St. Patricks Day. It was awesome-great music and bagpipes!! Jeff has always loved their music, but this was his first time seeing them in concert.

The 2 pound feast!

Pretty comfy!

Learning to walk the rope, I don't think we will be recruited anytime soon

Wearing green, were ready!

We cant wait to go back soon and explore more of Boston (hopefully when its not raining)!!

Flashback Friday- Maggie Moo!!

Jeff and I found old photos of Maggie the other day that were taken the day we got her in Texas. It completely melted my heart, she was so little and precious! Although we think she is still precious there is just something about a puppy. So, I thought I would flashback and share the photos with you.

First pic with Maggie as part of the family

Flash forward- Maggie will be 4 years old in July. Here are a few recent pics too! Maggie brings daily laughs and joy to our home, she is still such a cuddle bug. I love seeing how excited she gets when Jeff comes home from work, she leaps off the couch and runs in circles by the door! We love our Magster :)
