Anniversary Weekend in Boston

We had the BEST time during our Boston getaway weekend! We decided a few months back that it would be the perfect place to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. Flashback to our Boston trip in March- torrential rain, 40mph winds, and my umbrella flipping inside out! We had much more luck with the weather this time, it was absolutely gorgeous- 78-88 degrees the entire weekend!! We were able to enjoy and see the many outdoor sites Boston has to offer.

Our first stop after lunch, overlooking the site of the Boston Tea Party, was the Boston Fire Museum. They had different fire equipment including horse drawn engines, steam engines, oldfire photos and helmets from all over the US.

Jeffs dad is a fire buff so we visited the Boston Fire Department to get him a t-shirt. The guy on duty was so nice, gave us a quick tour of the fire house, and even answered all my cheesy questions about sliding down a fire pole :)

Our next stop was the Duck Tour- quack quack!! You drive around Boston in a WWII amphibious landing vehicle checking out all the sites, listening to some historical commentary. Then, your land vehicle transitions to become a boat and you tour down the Charles River. It was such a great way to see the city

Boston Public Garden

Beautiful Spring Tulips

The Old City Hall where we had dinner. The lower level is now a Ruth's Chris Steak House

After our delicious meal and special anniversary dessert!

On Sunday we spent the day exploring more outside, it was even warmer than Saturday. We came over to the North End neighborhood for some delicious Italian food (reminiscing about our honeymoon in Italy) and Mikes famous cannoli's.

After lunch we started walking along the Freedom Trail. First up was the Old North Church- were 2 lanterns were hung in the steeple to warm the people that the Red Coats were coming by sea

The Old State House

The balcony where the Declaration of Independence was first read to the people of Boston

Our last stop of the weekend was over to Fenway Park to take a tour. It was really interesting, you get to walk around the park without all the crowds of a gameday and learn about historic games and facts about the park.

Fenway Park is actually the 3rd smallest ballpark in the US

The Famous Green Monster

When we got home from Boston we celebrated with some red velvet cake. The layer of our wedding cake that we cut open and fed each other at our reception was red velvet and we both LOVE it! It was the perfect way to remember back to our amazing wedding day. This first year has been more than I could ever ask for. I have my best friend to go on this wonderful journey with, to support me in everything I do and make me smile everyday!

Flashback Friday- Our Wedding!

This weekend (Sunday to be exact) is our 1 year wedding anniversary so I figured I would take a trip down memory lane! I can't believe how fast 1 year has gone by, I feel like I was just standing in the hotel room getting ready to walk down the aisle. In 1 year we have driven cross country, lived in 4 states, been to Europe on our honeymoon, started med school rotations and got a job!! whew!! No wonder time flies, we have been extremely busy. We were so incredibly lucky to be able to have all our friends and family come together for our wedding! It was MAGICAL!!

It has been so much fun looking back at all the wedding photos, what a special day. To celebrate our anniversary we are off to Boston for the weekend! Working Girl

I have my first official grown up job with a salary, benefits and 401k! I am so excited to be off the couch and part of the working world. I am the Office Manager for the Stratford, CT office of Power Windows and Siding. When we got back from our trip to CA I immediately went to Pennsylvania to begin training. Headquarters is located near Philadelphia and so they put me up in a hotel for a few days and I had the chance to meet everyone in the company, learn about their computer systems and do other general training. I am LOVING it so far!! Everyone at the company is extremely friendly and helpful, I feel so lucky to be working for such a great group of people. The CT office is a new branch office that is just opening up so I am excited to help organize everything and get going!!

Because I embarrassed Jeff and took a picture of him on his first day of work he decided to do the same to me :)

Our trip to California!!!

Jeff had a 3 week break in between rotations so we decided to take a vacation to California and visit our friends and family. We were extremely excited to go, we hadn't been home since our wedding almost a year ago. We were lucky enough to get to be there for 10 days!! We were pretty busy the entire time trying to see our family and friends as much as possible, but being exhausted was definitely worth it.

We were on the move from the moment we landed, Mindi picked us up from the airport and we had some delicious sushi. Later that afternoon we met up with the Smiths and Sieglers in Los Angeles to celebrate my Grandpa's 88th Birthday!

Although we live on the East Coast now, we still cheer for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball team. We happened to be in town for Opening Day! Jeff's mom's boss gave us his season tickets and so we got to sit on the club level and be served all sorts of delicious game food (my favorite part about going to watch baseball)! We brought our good friends Dave and Sarah with us, which is funny because the 4 of us also went to a game a few days before our wedding the last time we were in CA.

I am not much of an adventurous person, but Jeff loves it all. When his dad mentioned they might have an opportunity to ride along with the LA Sheriff's department on their helicopter he was beyond excited! Jeff's neighbor is the pilot and offered to take he and his dad along on his shift.

One of my favorite things about Southern California is Disneyland! I do believe that it is the Happiest Place On Earth!! So, any visit to CA would not be complete without a visit to the park.

Since it has almost been a year since the wedding we wanted to get back to Miramonte Resort and remember our very special day. Jeff and I went back and had a wonderful lunch on the patio looking out over the lawn where we had our ceremony, it was so much fun to reminisce about everything and celebrate!

Jeff and I went to a Bad Religion concert at House of Blues in Downtown Disney too!

We spent the weekend up in the mountains visiting with my Aunt Donna and Uncle Darrell. I have always felt like their house is one of the most relaxing places. We play games, watch movies and eat a ton of delicious food. My parents and Lew also came up, unfortunately Karen was busy working with the tax deadline right around the corner. Most of our trip was spent in the California sunshine but our weekend in the mountains was full of 50 mph winds and heavy fog.

The best way to spend our last night- with both our families!! Thank you all so much for a wonderful trip!! Shout out to Mindi for dropping us off at the airport at 4:30am!! We miss you all already and can't wait to see you soon!

Internal Medicine

Jeff finished his first rotation last week, Internal Medicine in Derby CT! The program lasted 12 weeks and next he is doing Psychiatry at Danbury Hospital for 6 weeks. Jeff has been driving about 25 miles to Derby each morning so the switch to Danbury hospital will change the commute to about 1 mile! It also means getting to sleep in a little :) Right now he has a 3 week break and we just arrived in California! We haven't been here since our wedding last May so its wonderful getting to see friends and family. I'll post again when we return from our trip.

I took this photo the first day of Jeff's rotation back in January. Congrats babe on finishing your first rotation!
