Miami or Bust!!

What to do 1 day after you get married?? How about driving cross country to Miami? Jeff's 5th semester of medical school was in Miami, Florida so we packed up the car, left our honeymoon suite and started the adventure across the U.S. We spent the first night in Tucson, Arizona- we took full advantage of the city! We went to In-and-Out for our last burger and fries (unfortunately no In-and-Out in Florida) and went to the movies to see Wolverine. Our next stop was San Antonio, Texas- we rolled in around 11pm and passed out after a LONG day of driving. I was so excited because our next stop was New Orleans!! And New Orleans was worth the wait. Our first night we had a authentic Creole dinner and explored Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. Even though it wasn't Mardi Gras they were still throwing beads and partying it up. We even saw the Gumball 3000 rally drive down Bourbon Street.

The next day we went on a Hurricane Katrina Bus Tour. It was absolutely shocking to see how much devastation there still is this many years after Katrina. Tons of people are still without power, some are still living in their FEMA trailers, and hospitals and businesses are still closed. They showed us where the levies broke and drove us through all of the most affected neighborhoods.

I wasn't too excited about having to get back in the car the next morning but we still had a day and a half drive before we would arrive in MIAMI. We spent our last night in Ocala, Florida- we were finally almost there. After a 5 hour drive the Miami skyline came into view! So much larger than i thought it would be, and most of the buildings are white, blue and green- very beachy! We met up with the realtor and she gave us the keys to our first apartment. I had found the apartment online so i was a little nervous but it ended up being amazing- awesome location and pretty big. After traveling the 10 from Indian Wells, CA to Miami, FL for 2700 miles we were home sweet home.
