The Smiths Visit Miami

My mom and dad came out to visit us for a week around Fathers Day. I think they needed a vacation when they got home, we kept them super busy! Even though we just moved to Miami we were quite the tour guides. Our first stop was South Beach for Fathers Day- we enjoyed the ocean and then walked along Lincoln Road enjoying the shops and some MOJITOS!

While Jeff was busy studying for class I took my parents down to Key West. Its a 4 hour-ish drive from Miami but we had so much fun and it was well worth it. We found an adorable bed and breakfast right on Duval street complete with free cocktail hour. We toured Ernest Hemingway's house, shopped, ate a delicious seafood dinner on the water and enjoyed the Sunset Celebration in Mallory Square.

No rest on this vacation- next up we visited the Everglades Safari Park to go on an airboat ride and see an Alligator show. We went bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes, Jeff and I against Mom and Dad. The Newlywed team WON! We went to the Historic Biltmore Hotel and had high tea. We also met up with friends for drinks at a piano bar....whew I am tired just remembering everything. Our last trip was to see Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, it is the former home of agriculture industrialist James Deering. It was built in 1916 and has 34 rooms and massive gardens. It is absolutely beautiful and looks like something you would find in Italy.

I am so glad my mom and dad came to visit, I miss them already and I can't wait to see them for Thanksgiving in New York.
